The Tackleford Bicentennial was observed on July 18, 1960 with a large celebration at the Tackleford railway station. Cake was served and there was a coconut shy (something involving throwing balls at coconuts), but the highlight of the event was the arrival of the Flying Scotsman train, a classic historical steam train that was coming to Tackleford to celebrate the town's place in British railway history.

In an alternate timeline seen in "The Case of the Forked Road", mean kids who came through a time wormhole from the present-day Griswald's Grammar School derail the train, causing a major crash which destroys some nearby buildings in downtown Tackleford. History is put right in the end, however, and the celebration goes off without a hitch.
